Good morning, readers it is with great pleasure that I come to you today. Currently eyeing the garden with the company of the cats that roam our neighborhood. Side note I’ve always wanted a calico cat and now said imaginary cat exists on my streets but most importantly hangs out with me in the patio while I write. It’s the perfect way to start the day, I feel. Anyways, there’s another dream come true and it’s made it’s way to the box office! So let’s brew about The Death of a Unicorn!
So I’m a big fan of unicorns, since I was young, one of my top favorite mythical creatures growing u[p and still is. I find them to be mysterious, playful and of course magical. I’ll stop there so you don’t start barfing, but one of my favorite movies growing up was called The Last Unicorn, which is about a unicorn who’s looking for her own kind and makes friends along the way (definitely a hero’s journey here) learning lessons along the way.
I always wanted something more for a tale about a unicorn although The Last Unicorn does have that more. However, most often as not the unicorn isn’t a main character (also without speaking parts because we immediately think they don’t talk) and are more of a segway in helping others achieve their goals or are a sign to follow. BUT in this new movie coming out not only is it not a movie made straight to home video, it’s IN THE THEATER!!!

Now, The Death of a Unicorn takes a comedic and dark story about a unicorn being hit and now one of it’s own kind is seeking revenge against those that harmed one of their own. Which to me is !: hilarious and the old joke of, “I think there’s a unicorn in the engine of my car.” Also, Paul Rudd is in it and he is hilarious so, I’m excited to see this take on this mythical creature. Usually they are shy and elusive, but not this time they are dark and ready to kill.
What are your thoughts? Does the word,”unicorn” throw you off? Do you find the dark twist not to your liking or is it just what the doctor ordered?
As Always Keep On Brewin!
