Vampire Ball

Good morning readers, it’s the day before the Summer Solstice, does anyone have any plans to celebrate? I may not be able to do anything extensive outside since the weather reports say it’s going to be stormy. But I have other matters to discuss and they aren’t for the day but rather, the night, let’s brew about it!

Here in Tampa, there is a lot of night life, concerts, festivals, etc, but what really caught my attention in two words, Vampire Ball. I never heard of this before, but apparently at a place called The Castle, they do off the wall dance club themes aka vampire ball. I’ve been to Ybor many times but I never seen The Castle before and from the looks of it I shouldn’t be able to miss it. I find it very interesting they’re holding it the day after the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, as the light recedes the night becomes longer, very vampire-esk.

The design they have for the vampire ball looks similar to that of the Queen of the Damned concept, which is very cool. Evidently, they are !# for Halloween parties on TripAdvisor, I can only imagine if The Castle held another vampire ball on Halloween which so happens to be on a Friday this year, the turn out for that one alone! In movies and stories it creates that exciting allure, but IF it were real life would you go and become a late night snack or would stay home and bar the doors?

But what are your thoughts? Would you dress up for the vampire ball and get down until 3am? Would you dress Victorian or Pagan? All and all it sounds like a great event to get into.

Summer Solstice, Litha

Good morning readers! Happy Tuesday, currently I’m basking in the aftermath of water blasting the plants drinking a hot cup of coffee, even though it has been SWELTERING, I still drink hot coffee, old habits die hard. I noticed I’ve been curious tapping into each pagan holiday as they pass this year and the one that’s coming this week on June 20th is Litha,, let’s brew about it!

I’ve heard of the Summer Solstice also, knowing it’s the longest day of the year, but what I didn’t know is that it has another name, Litha pronounced LEE-thuh. Litha, just like Osteros, Beltane, as well as the moon phases leading up to the holidays has given me a new understanding of the abundance, growth and light ( the giant aggravating molten ball in the sky) with each interval of plants I’ve planted. Each holiday seems to evolve towards those attributes and with the garden that’s growing larger with each payday I can’t help but think how people celebrated and invested their time during these holidays. How in our own way, it has evolved to fit the current times when celebrating, i.e. cooking out doors in parks or backyards, festivals with music and activities, the togetherness and sharing our skills and crafts with outside markets.

Best practices with the Summer solstice is being outside whether going for a walk or having a picnic or decorating your altar with flowers hanging colors of yellow or gold for the sun, green for abundance, and blue for the sky and water. Flowers like lavender and sunflowers are known for the summer solstice and I plan on planting more lavender (since my original died already hence the watering twice a day more vigilantly) and getting sunflowers because not only are they beautiful but they remind me of the sun( which is why its one of the flowers for the Summer Solstice).

What about you? Do you plan on getting together with friends? Do you think that’s why we have cook outs around this time of the year?

Friday The 13th In June!

Good morning readers! I hope June has been treating you well so far, full of light, joy and abundance, while I’m over kicking up the darker and supernatural side of things your way. I’m excited that there are more films on the way that will keep our blood racing! But Friday the 13th in June? Let’s brew about it!

Honestly, I’m not hunting for something new to watch or do any investigation on ghost this go around, but I am sitting down and picking out an oldie but goodie and staying in this Friday. Here in Florida and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones, if the 13th of the month lands on a Friday, tattoo shops will roll out a set of tattoos you can get done for 13 dollars. Which any chance of getting some new ink is always fun, but I couldn’t this go around, downside is that it’s the only one we have in 2025, so it was probably swamped at the tattoo parlors. The next Friday the 13th is February 2026, so make note of that also there will be 2 more dates in 2026 where the 13th falls on a Friday.

Anyways, what do you guys think of the Friday The 13th franchise? It hits me in the feels with traditional slasher/ hacker/ horror movie, so it may be old and keeps on going, but it’s one of my favorites. Plus the merch is really fun, too. But why did they choose Friday the 13th? Plain and simply Friday the 13th is superstitiously known in western culture as unlucky, first off. Secondly, Halloween was a huge success so the creators wanted to see if they could make another blockbuster with Friday The 13th.

I think their gamble worked out well, what about you? Are you more a Halloween fan or are you more Friday The 13th? But while we debate who’s scarier or which is a better franchise, I’m going to stay in tomorrow and watch the movie. I’ll have my sacred late night cup of coffee and try my hand at crocheting an axolotl. if I’m lucky the crochet needle will be the only thing stabbing me or will it be?

Let’s Welcome June’s Strawberry Moon!

Good morning readers! I’ve noticed a pattern where each time there’s a moon in the month this year I’ve been covering it. I’ve been curious as to why certain are called what and I’m beginning to understand that they aren’t always EXACTLY what they mean. Let’s brew about it!

So, fun fact, I thought the moon would appear “pink” in the sky, silly me, but June’s full moon is called a strawberry moon(In Europe it’s also, known as a “rose moon”) because this is when berries are harvested. If you’re seeing an influx of berries at the grocery store that what it means really, and being in Plant City strawberries are in an abundance. I was curious though if there was something spiritual behind the strawberry moon other than it’s a great time for pickin’ and there is! The Native Americans viewed this time as an abundance and love, there’s Beltane’s influence again. Time to celebrate fresh starts, relationships and personal growth all things in an abundance as well as healing.

I wondered why all of this growth messages keep popping up around this time? Is it because during winter we huddle together barring off the cold when everything is dormant. Is it why during spring we gear up by planting seeds not so much the plant kind (unless that’s what you want or need to), but more of a personal and spiritual spiritual seeds. In spring we are shedding what doesn’t work for us anymore because are gearing up to bring ourselves to our full zenith. Thus in summer we are in full force bringing those seeds to fruition and celebrating that hard work.

But what about you? What have you let go? What are things you planted that have come together to bring more to your life?

Phasmophobia, A Movie In The Making

Good morning readers! It’s getting hot out here and again, it’s only preheating, just can’t wait for July and August when it’ll be the hottest here in Florida. Anyways, since I’m on a trend with phobias and the supernatural, I thought I’d bring to the table a fairly new video game which is in the making. Let’s brew about it!

So, I’ve seen people on Twitch and Youtube videos freak the hell out while playing this game and it is hilarious. I never seen so many crazy sounding screams and just plain outer body experience on videos in my life! The game came out five years ago and a lot of people enjoy it. If you have a Steam account you can buy it from there, but it is a PC game which makes it Twitch user friendly. The premise of the game is that you’re a paranormal investigator going around classifying ghosts using various ghost hunting equipment while trying to survive.

Honestly, I always wanted to be a ghostbuster so I’m already in there like swimwear. My only problem for me is that I have the real shitty end of the stick when it comes to playing video games and I used to game a lot, I have a very bad case of motion sickness and it takes me FOREVER to play a game. Anyways, there isn’t anything much else to go off at the moment, not even a story line for the movie. Just like Until Dawn, I’m very interested in playing the game to get a feel for it and see if I won’t unlike myself while playing out of fear and jump scares. I might even venture to say maybe I’ll make a Twitch account just for ya’ll to watch me lose my marbles.

But what are your thoughts? Have you played the game? Do you think that Blumhouse will do it justice? Would you like to see me try to play this game? I’m sure it’ll do nothing but bring entertainment as my face melts off in panic.

Let’s Give Ourselves More Phobias, Final Destination Bloodlines

Good evening readers! Yup, I’m movie binging the last week and a half, but after Busch Gardens I needed to recharge from all the peopling. Also, its Final Destination the movie that starts giving us phobias about just every little thing, garbage disposal comes to mind. But what does the franchise have in-store for us now to be fearful of? Let’s brew about it!

The final Destination franchise started back in the beginning of the 2000’s wreaking havoc on our worst fears or ones we didn’t even think about, I can think of quite a few that I hadn’t, the friendly safe carwash still get’s me in a panic about ever owning a car with a sunroof. Anyways, Bloodlines has new things to be scared of. I also, love the content people are making out there poking fun at how outlandish it can get. But the movies do prey upon our worst fears, even if it is 1 millionth out of 1 chance that it could quite POSSIBLY happen, I myself am the reason or at least I feel that there is a Murphy’s law.

Anyways, back to the movie, it’s centralized around a college girl, her little, brother and the rest of her family. her recluse grandmother survived it, her own mother left to stay away from her children and it seems because her grandmother stopped a massacre from happening, death wants his due and will stop at nothing from getting it. The idea is that whomever who was suppose to die that lived and created families are all going to be affected unless the domino effect is stopped, by one person in that family dying.

It was a good watch but there are like a ton of them so the idea is the same just different characters and scenarios, but what are your thoughts? Did you watch the movie ? Was it on your radar or were you thinking, great another one?

Until Dawn Video Game Turned Movie

Good evening readers, I have another movie that you can sink your teeth into. I’m so excited that there are more and more thriller/ horror movies available throughout the year. Now, this one is different than all the ones I’ve watched this year, because it is originally a video game, let’s brew about it!

Now, the movie is similar to the game play, where it starts with a group of friends going to cabin in the woods because one of their friends is missing and her last known location is at a particular cabin. The video game is similar in that they’e actually missing two friends, now the outcome or ending changes varying on what you have the character do, which is the same in the movie, but focuses on one character with different outcomes depending on the supportive character(s).

The supernatural starts within the 10 minutes of the movie with a bit of cheese. But the story is well written with some comedy mashed in-between, always my favorite. There are twists and turns with hints at what is largely going on. Why are there windows when they are apparently at the ground floor? Why can’t they remember what happened when they previously died?(spoiler alert)If they die before dawn everything resets for THIRTEEN days, if they don’t make it before themed of 13 days they are trapped.

I really enjoyed the movie, it had me jumping a little and laughing along. The story unfolded smoothly without it being abrupt or not making any sense. So, I say it’s a good watch if you are looking for something different. I’m definitely considering buying the game to try it out. What are your thoughts? Have you played the game or watched the movie? What is your take?

Finally, Sinners

Good evening readers, I hope your week is finishing strong. I’ve been meaning to write about the movie Sinners. Which I finally sat down to watch it, I’m so thrilled to talk about, because I’m a big vampire film lover, I enjoy vampire television series, not so much Vampire Diaries…I tried, but I do like The Originals because it does take place New Orleans and there are werewolves and witches as well, always number one in my book if you have other species in the mix I think. But let’s brew about it!

I popped my favorite movie snack, popcorn and blanket and hit that remote like I meant business. I’ve been dying to watch this movie and it didn’t disappoint. It took place in the prohibition era, during a time where racism is riding high. I found it interesting and spoiler alert, they had a hint of the native culture there which I thought was really cool. The music was amazing and I love that they added a bit of magic to the music as well as healing.

It gave way that some people having the gift of music that could pierce the veil between the dead and the living called griots, I need to look into this more because this is fascinating, makes me think of video games with bards holding magic skills. Back to the plot it’s about twin brothers opening up a club/ speak-easy and they have just hired their cousin to perform when comes along three strangers wanting to be “invited in.” The first night is a hit, but as it where’s on these strangers don’t take no for an answer and all hell breaks loose.

The story was well written and went smoothly. I’m definitely going repeat watching this film to see if I miss any nuances I didn’t see the first time. What about you? Have you seen Sinners? Have you ever heard of griots? I think this is a perfect summer horror movie.

Blood Mary, What’s behind This?

Good morning readers, now I may be in the back yard, but I’m not getting into it about the garden too soon to show or say any progress. But with coffee in my hand my brain trailed off on all the goofy things I used to do as a kid. Not stepping on cracks, don’t walk under a ladder, and the ye ol’ “Bloody Mary” in the dark with your friends giggling behind you. But where did it come from? Let’s brew about it.

SO, why the mirror and Why Mary? Some the Bloody Mary part comes from Queen Mary I whom executed a LOT of people. but why do we call on her? What will she do for us other than scaring the shit out of yourself and your friends flinching at shadows. From what I gathered is that the only reason why it is assumed that it isQueen Mary I due to her extracurricular manslaughter activities. Whomever that is conjured up isn’t Queen Mary but rather an angry ghost, witch or ghoul, there isn’t any good to come of it, no granting of a command or wish and the being that’s suppose to come only does harm.

Now, the mirror, that has longer history, there used to be a ritual at night where a maiden is to walk upstairs backwards holding a hand mirror and a candle to light her way. Supposedly, you would see your future husband or future or if it goes badly you would see the reaper or darkness.

Either way though, it is nothing but a playful game played at a friend’s house or sleepover. But what are your thoughts? Have you heard of the origin? If you have leave a comment, I’d love to know!

Attractions, at Busch Gardens Tampa

Good evening readers! Another spontaneous adventure out in Tampa, but as you guessed it I went to Busch Gardens. It was a long and fun day and my feet are totally barking, but it was great to stretch the legs and see some attractions. Let’s brew about it!

Now, I remember whenI was younger Busch Gardens was a big deal like Sea World, The Metro Zoo, it was up there with Disney and Universal, but walking into Busch Gardens gate it felt a little, lackluster. The structures were beautiful but worn, idealistic Moroccan or Asian or African in style, even Egyptian. But it looked, tired? Rough around the edges, I guess is what I am getting at. Not that I didn’t have fun but maybe it was a bit more of a vibe I was getting?

I really enjoyed the zoo areas, where it was almost like an off the beaten path, they had Chimpanzees, Gorillas, and Tigers, even a Tiger topiary which I really wanted to take home. However, I never got the chance to see the tigers (tigers are my favorite animal right up there with polar bears.) But the giant tortoises were wonderful to watch and so were the penguins. Although I believe the elephant dancing to the music playing on the speakers took the cake for me.

Ride-wise though, the SheiKra was one of my favorite rides, that one definitely got my heart pumping what with hall tall it went in the sky, but it was the slight hold at the top that got me before I was plummeted into twists and turns. The wait wasn’t long and I rode it multiple times. The Congo River Rapids ride was very nice. I also enjoyed the mine ride, however I feel they could have added more to the attraction like it was missing an element. The wait time on this one took a while and it’d be nice to have something going on more while I waited but that is just a minor detail.

All and all it was a great visit, better than shuffling around the house in my sweatpants and binging another 48 hours that I’ve probably seen a million times (not that that’s a bad time). What are your thoughts? What’s your favorite ride? Should I revisit during the Halloween Horror Nights? Is there a specific Busch Gardens that you recommend?
