Good evening readers! I’m coming to you off of a childhood high! I never seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the 90’s in theater. Why is it here may you ask? Because, it’s the 35th anniversary of the movie and it doesn’t sound like they’re stopping at the first. Who decided to revive this beauty? Let’s brew about it!
I have and will always be a big fan of TMNT, I had the ation figures, the shirts, watched the cartoons and recited lines in everyday life since I was knee high to a duck. However, some amazing companies got together and decided we need to bring the greats back, which Fathom Entertainment, Saga Arts and Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group. It’s not the only one their bringing back, Hayao Miyazaki films will also, make their trip out to the theaters as well.

Like I said I never seen the movie in theater,(YES, I fan-girled and took photos inside the theater, tI didn’t use flash) I’ve seen all the Michael Bay and I’m sorry I haven’t nor will I see Seth Rogen’s TMNT. All of the newer versions just never slapped the same way. Jim Henson in all of his glory made the suits and the animatronics to bring these lean mean fighting machines to life. I understand everyone has their version of the turtles, but it felt slightly like a sacrilege, a stain on what was amazing.

Why couldn’t they bring back the way the turtles were? YES, I know the suits were heavy and required a lot of people to get them around BUT it was amazing; I’m sure Jim Henson Studios could revise revise the suits. Watching the movie in theater I couldn’t really poke hole in the aesthetic of the suits or the animatronic movements of the eyes and mouth, if I did it was slightly off.
Okay, I’m off my rant, BUT it was amazing to see, I laughed, I got pump, and I really wanted a slice of pizza. Go, see this movie you won’t regret going to the theater, I PROMISE you. I’m already wanting to go see it again, maybe sneak a slice or two in. But have you seen it before? Do you prefer the newer version, the Michael Bay or do you hold the 1990’s version?
As Always Keep On Brewin!
