Good evening readers! I hope your week is going well, I’ve been on edge as the days and hours tick by for the next cut in the Face of Halloween competition. If it was wasn’t for working I think I’d be a mess, but there are the other hours of time I needed to fill so I’ve been filling my time decorating and creating for Halloween, let’s brew about it!
So, I’m anxious about the competition, so what better way to spend the weekends and time after work keeping my mind busy (when I’m not posting on social media about the event!) The inside of the house is in full swing Halloween but I held off on decorating the outside. Trust me I want to turn the outside into a murder scene but I don’t want to be the first person in neighborhood to do so. So, I’m wrestling with the fuck it let my freak flag fly and the DON”T SCARE THE NEIGHBORS!! Plus, what if I put mine out and their’s is WAY cooler?!

Thus, with the fear and doubt of the front yard not looking cool, I decided to make some of my own decorations, tombstones to be exact. I figured this will keep my mind preoccupied, on both the competition AND the humbugs in my neighborhood front. I never really LOVED the tombstones you could get at the store, either you pay an arm and a leg or you get cheap flimsy fly away ones. I watched a few YouTube videos and stumbled on a dynamic couple, James and Jay, they end up making a couple of tombstones out of insulation foam board. They’ve listed the tools and materials they used in their video, I’ve put the link to their video in this post. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEpFd1oqwDA
Just a heads up the 2inch insulation foam board is HARD to find, I had to get a different brand. ( I used PolyPro, and the boards are 8 ft long, so be prepared to have a box cutter to cut them down to fit in your car!). SO far, I have shaped out my tombstone, next step is making the stencil. BUT tomorrow is the next cut and today all votes are worth double so please vote for me, and KNOW when you vote your helping a great cause. https://faceofhalloween.org/2025/nyssa-mcelfresh
