Black Phone 2, Will It Live Up To The OG?

Good evening readers! I hope everyone is staying warm, here in Florida it doesn’t really get cold but, I know everywhere else it’s already started or it’s making its way over. Tonight is a movie night post and I’m freaking excited, I really enjoyed the movie Black Phone so, popcorn has been popped, let’s brew about it!

Black Phone 2 picks up after a few yearswhere the first one ended following Finn and Gwen dealing with the aftermath of the Grabber. Gwen is still getting visions via dreams and Finn keeps getting phone calls (not answering I might add). Gwen’s dreams are pointing towards a camp called, Alpine Lake where their mother was once a counselor. The setting is up where its cold and snowing aka why I asked I hope you guys are warm, the movie has me putting a blanket on my feet.

Finn, Gwen, and their friend Ernesto go out to Alpine Lake to find out why Gwen’s dreams are pointing towards Alpine Lake. Finn wants to keep their mission quiet but with Gwen’s dreams becoming more erratic they enlist the help of Mando and Mustang. It all circles back to the Grabber, whom actually worked as the maintenance man, and the camp being his original stoping grounds.

Uncovering truths long dead buried deep about the missing boys and the curious death of their mother, our heroes triumph over evil with twists, turns and a little help from other side. I feel like this is a great sequel and it kept to the rhythm and tone of the first movie while creating surprises that aren’t the same dog and pony show of the first. Have you seen the movie, if so what do you think? Did Black Phone 2 match up to the second or do you feel like it flopped? Are there any movies you’d like to see that are coming soon?

Welcome To Derry and Some BBQ On The Side

Good evening readers! Spooky month is wrapping up but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t resonate in our black hearts. There might be some horror movies coming our way before the end of the year, I will have to do some research but I wanted to talk about the prequel to It, Welcome To Derry and some good ol’ fashion bbq, let’s brew about it!

So, first stop, Welcome To Derry, I’ve been excited about this since I first heard the news. I really enjoyed the It franchise, I love how it revived Steven King’s work, and the movies can severely make me jump out of my seat. The first episode, starts off with a bang, and yes some spoiler alerts here, it graphic quick with the mother giving birth in the car while the rest of the family chants. It fits with how creepy and dark It is, but I feel like they might have gone over board with this cherry bomb.

However, the story telling and the era intrigues me, I love the retro feel and how the “new” but old gang comes together. The first episode does end on a cliffhanger in which it looks like 80% of the group is merc’ed in a movie theater. I’m curious how the story will take this twist, was this a vision or a nightmare? How will this all tie together?

Why is there bbq in the title? Because I just went to our local bbq place, known as the BEST bbq place in Plant City, started by Elton Johnson back in 1954. The place was not only packed with people but mouthwatering aromas. Saturday’s are the days they sell their ribeyes, and I’m sorry YES it’s a bbq place but I can’t pass up a good ribeye. Everything melted in my mouth from the steak (that didn’t even need A1, I know sacrilege) baked potato right down to the house salad and sweet roll. So so much food, but I have enough for lunch tomorrow. I’m excited to relive the experience or maybe in the evening while watching the second episode of Welcome To Derry, sky’s the limit tomorrow. Also, made a note Johnson’s has a Thanksgiving feast, I may know what I’m dong for the upcoming holiday.

BUT have you watched the new episode of Welcome To Derry? What do you think so far? Which is your favorite character/ scene so far? I really love that it’s basing it around the movie theater in Derry and the lighthouse. Also, when you get bbq what do you like to order?
