Scream 7

Good evening readers! If you were checking my posts on Facebook you’d have noticed yesterday evening that I started to jibber about going to see Scream 7. Well, I did and it was fantastic! Let’s brew about it!

I’ve been super stoked about the 7th installment since August of last year when Matthew Lillard made mention that he was going to be in the next Scream film. Immediately, I was ready to buy tickets, there’s been so much talk of the years and the fans finally got what they wanted, Stu aka Matthew Lillard. Also, I mean Matthew Lillard as a person is genuine and charismatic and as an actor, he’s phenomenal.

The newest Scream installment follows Sidney’s oldest daughter, Tatum, who is a bright young teenager trying to find herself while under the shadow of Sidney Prescott. Sidney herself feels unsure on how to raise her daughter away from her dark past. Unluckily, the past OBVIOUSLY catches up, because Ghostface. Now, you might ask how does Matthew Lillard’s character, Stu fit into all of this? Doesn’t Stu get his head smashed by a television set in the first movie? That’s where fans have been buzzing, saying Stu could have DEFINITELY survived that!

Well, it appears Stu DID survive the deadly blow, or so we are made to think so, questions arise that maybe Ai is being used to create Stu, but there’s also, mention of a John Doe that lived in a mental ward that had a serious memory loss. With the many twists and turns and a lot of blood loss along the way Tatum has no choice but to grab her metaphorical balls and be her own final girl trusting not only HER instincts but her mother, despite their shamble of a relationship. While her daughter fights to stay alive Sidney teams up with her long time friend and tenacious reporter, Gale Weathers; together they try to unmask the foreboding Ghostface, that just can’t seem to die.

I felt like the movie did well, it had me jump and scream(as it’s suppose to do). However, I know I usually spill the tea, but this time, I really want you to go see it for yourself. Also, not sure if your movie theatr is doing this but I got a free poster at the concession stand, and of coiurse I had to snag a Ghostface Popcorn bucket(this you will have to purchase). So, go get your lickies and chewies and tell me what you think.

Cruise Askew 2 Trip, Best Trip Ever!

Good morning readers! The trip was amazing! I would have been posting everyday but the internet connection was rough, even by phone. Once realizing this, I’ve been documenting the whole trip via Open Office into one big amazing piece. No need to slap on some sun screen for this, but grab your mug and lets brew about it!

Morning of, I was more than ready to shoot straight to the port, no work, no meal prep, and no cooking for the next 4 days sounds like a DREAM. Living in the Tampa area made it an easy trip to the port although the wait to get on the ship was a bit, BUT the wait wasn’t entirely boring as I got to see some of the stars before I checked into the room, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and Brian O’ Halloran to name a few BIG NAMES.

The room is spacious! Not only that but 2 signed posters of Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes lie on the bed!!! One of which read “snoochin” on it, and the balcony spacious to read, write, and drink coffee. The ship isn’t sailing until 4pm but I was already over the seas with he posters and the lanyard I got when I picked up my key card for the room.

The ship set sail with a bang with Kevin and Jason saying a few words before Morris Day And The Time kicked off the trip! They can still wail! I have some video clips as well but what was really touching was the Prince tribute, whom passed away a decade ago. After the concert I rallied back to the room before the Podcast of Jay and Silent Bob Get Old started up. Which was hilarious, getting to know them and their life now.

The final act of the night was the Edumacation Podcast with Kevin Smith and Andy McElfresh, come to find out Kevin and Andy take walks together daily. Which one is really cool that they have that bond together, secondly, this is where they cook up ideas for comics that they work on together for Marvel and DC. Which there’s a comic that’s coming up in June, since Marvel has released the info NOW, I can say what it is the INTRODUCTION of Jay and Silent Bob: Jays of Futures Past.

Thursday, began with coffee, I may be on a ship but BrewFeeds is the name and besides brewing ideas, brew needs to be ingested before the doing or brewing of things can occur. Autographs from the JSB lineup was the first stop of the day and armed with the Autographed poster I made my way to meet Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee, and Andy McElfresh who were all down to earth beings.

I really enjoyed learning some work out tips from Ethan whom, had his work out card deck to buy at the merch store. Fun fact Ethan’s work out card deck is set up where you can shuffle together to make interesting meals without getting tired of old baked chicken, which is an underlining goal I’ve been working for almost a year; side note I’ve lost 20 pounds in under a year and I have to tell you that I am feeling WONDERFUL. Yes, do I wish I’ve lost more but there’s no rush to the goal, it’s the journey as corny as that sounds. Plus, mentally, physically, spiritually I feel better AND I don’t feel uncomfortable in my clothes.

Next stop, the Comic Workshop with Marc Bernardin and Andy McElfresh. I’m not going to lie I brought my sketch book thinking we’d be getting down on some how to’s and sketching panels. But it was more of how to write/ create a story versus drawing one.

Q & A with Kevin, was not only heartwarming how down to earth Kevin Smith is. He treated each person with kindness and open heart. When approached about having a band’s music in one of Kevin’s upcoming movie he promised him he would look them up and have their music used. The big take away was the affirmation, that though we aren’t people that help our people by serving our country or other welfares of our country we still serve the people by creating an outlet to entertain and bring back the morale in individual lives. Being someone that likes to create it was nice to hear that though I’n not contributing by saving lives or protecting others, I am bringing joy and filling up other people’s cups.

After a full day and having missed breakfast, again, the ship was set up for Mooby’s, the fast food restaurant from Kevin’s movies the menu was set up for the iconic double cheeseburger, Cowtipper, chicken andwich, Cocksmoker Chicken Sandwich, the vegan option, Non-Moo Cowtipper and Hater totz, nd dessert options of Cow Pie Brownie and chocolate covered pretzels. I got the Cowtipper and Hater Totz which both were delicious and I love that there were a lot of different toppings you could add.

For the evening events watched Jason Mewes in his comedic show Diary Of A Man Child, Fatman Beyond with Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin, talking about their experiences in writing comics, and Q & A with the audiences.

Friday morning began, and yes we made it to port in Cozumel, Mexico! Originally, the trip was to go to Santa Maya, Mexico but because of bad weather we were taken to Cozumel. There was some excursions available but nothing that really peaked my interest and stayed near the ship. However, I wasn’t going to leave without getting some tacos from Three Amigos, now, I watched this movie when I was younger with my grandfather, but I’ve seen so many Three Amigos, I didn’t think anything of it until, I saw the mural on the wall and movie stills framed along the walls. The food was delicious, I got the quesabirrias, which is one of my favorite to get back at home in Florida.

After, getting some gifts to bring back home, I lounged around enjoying the pool side and even got to talk to Morris Day for alittle. The big event besides, being in Mexico, was the script reading of JSB of Jays Futures Past, read by the JSB actors with Kevin as the narrator. I can’t wait for the comic to come out! I want to get 2 copies, one to read and the other to save for whenever there is a convention with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. To top the night off a Pub Quiz with Andy McElfresh and Brian O’Halloran.

Saturday, after all the seminars and workshops I jut wanted to relax and roam, feeling a little over sensitized, decided to move about the ship at my leisure and pack my bag. Got more merchandise and to my great surprise more goodies from JSB. I never been so hooked up with goodies in one go that I can recall. Ending the evening with a performance by Cinnamon featuring Harley Quinn Smith, which was amazing and got a picture with Buddy Christ and Ming Chen from Comic Book Men. It was a great way to end the night.

All in all it was a great trip and as I sit comfortably back home typing the trip up it was a lot of fun eye opening experience and to think creatively and not about the mundane things back here. Which thoughts of home and things to do crossed my mind fleetingly and about work while on the trip, but it was nice to recharge my batteries. But I hope you enjoyed my adventure as much as I did.

Also, ANOTHER side note during this trip I found out what an upside down pineapple was BEFORE setting foot on this voyage, an upside down pineapple on a door means that the couple are swingers and are DTF, evidently, Jason Mewes recently learned this as well and spoke about it on Wednesday, which gave ME a wily idea, after seeing some cabin doors on my deck have erase boards and notepads stuck on the outside of their cabins for others to write on, I decided to tag their pages with an upside down pineapple and take a photo of my handiwork. I wasn’t going out of my way but if I happened upon one it was going down.

Cruise Askew, Let’s Meet Some of the Crew!

Good evening readers, less than a week and I’ll be on a cruise to Maya, Mexico. I can’t believe how around the corner it is. It felt so far away and now, it’s practically here. Went and got the bug spray, the hand sanitizer, sunscreen, water, etc, today. ShoutOut to Her Story on Facebook for the recommendations as I was drawing a blank like a flatline. Let’s talk about the people that I MAY meet on this cruise, let’s brew about it!

So 4 days out to sea with Jay and Silent Bob aka Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith as well as a slew of the gang. There are loads of workshops, podcasts and games to get into. The ones specifically I’m wanting to get into is Jason Lee’s photography. I definitely want to bring more to the table not only here but the social media accounts in the photography and videography department. Luckily, I got a camera, just need to remember to charge it AND bring the charger!!!

A comic book workshop with Marc which, I love drawing and storyboarding but learning the art form in a comic style would be really interesting. There’s of course, Kevin Smith’s Q & A and blackjack and A Diary of A Man Child with Jason Mewes that would be fucking AMAZING and of course on the itinerary.

There’s also, movie screenings ( Mallrats) and themed nights such as pj night and prom night. I don’t know if I’m going to be under prepared, over prepared, but hopefully somewhere in between. All in all, it is a much needed vacation, been knocking goal after goal at work, but it’s time to let the creative side out, the explorer side, the wild side, and hopefully the relaxing side as well. What zaniness will be procured?

BUT what do you think? Have you been on a cruise? If you have been on a cruise what is your most memorable experience? If you haven’t what is one you’d love to go on?

Medieval Times, Get Your Lance Out!

Good evening readers, I hope the start of your February is going well, compared to January. I can’t believe how hard the U.S. was smacked from the west to the east coast, but I hope everyone is warm and safe. Today’s adventure harken’s back to the medieval times, let’s brew about it!

Now, you know how big I am on anything Renaissance, I mean I own a bow and I intend to get a traditional long bow after mastering the compound bow. Anyways, you may have heard of these guys before, if you’ve ever watched The Cable Guy, characters, Chip Douglas (Jim Carry) and Steven Kovacs ( Matthew Broderick), go to a place called Medieval Times, for dinner. If you haven’t it is a live action ordeal, where you the audience sit back as a story unfolds with a king, queen, and squires before a volley of jousting, horse and falcon performances, and of course a feast!

The drive wasn’t too far, a little over an hour, but it was worth the trip coming up to the castle! I couldn’t take pictures once inside the building where the merchandise and drinks were, but once I was at the table I was able to take pictures of the action! The performances from both humans and animals was astounding they really pulled you into the story.

The story is that one of the knights is from a neighboring country that the king had fought with, that were known for treachery. As the story unfolds your feast is brought to you, since it is the medieval times, there isn’t any silverware so going back to using your hands is a bit messy, but the roasted chicken, corn on the cob, herb-basted potato was delicious. I was concerned about the soup, but the bowl has a handle attached where you can grab and sip.

The “treacherous knight eventually shows his true colors, saying that the treaty was a terrible idea and injured one of the fellow knights, the rest you will have to find out for yourself. BUT it was a spectacular night, I definitely recommend it. Although I would say, if you do go I noticed there was quite a few people dressed in Renaissance garb. I can’t wait to go back dressed up, even try the vip as you get ground seats closer to all the action.

The Housemaid, The Movie

Good evening readers! I hope your week is going well, tonight is a stay in adventure. Remember me talking about The Housemaid book written by Freida McFadden? I heard months ago they were doing a movie adaptation. ANNNND I finally got to watch it, so grab your popcorn and let’s brew about it!

Now, years sgo I made my peace on books turned movies, it’s adaptation NOT like the book and it can’t be otherwise, movies would take days to finish. So, going in to watch The Housemaid I figured there were going to be some things switched around or character switching. BUT for the most part the movie followed the book very well, the actors did a great job portraying the characters and were very believable. I always loved Amanda Seyfried since Mama Mia!

The sensual scenes were hot and steamy, I felt like I needed to step away so they could have some privacy, but hey, it drives views right? Anyways, the subtle changes, Enzo? The landscaper? although he doesn’t have a huge part in the first book, he plays a pivotal role in helping these women get away from the husband, but makes maybe five minutes of screen time plus, instead of him telling Mina that she shouldn’t leave Millie by herself. Another tsk from me was the cop interviewing Mina, was suppose to be male. Why is that a hard on for me? Because the cop was suppose to be the father of the ex-fiancé to Andrew Winchester, and lastly Andrew WInchester’s Father was suppose to be there towards the end of the movie, BUT HE wasn’t there, he loved his son.

Now, what am I getting at? Although these things are small, I feel like these things were omitted. Showing good MALE characters in this book. Enzo wanting to help and sticking his neck out, the male cp covering for Mina so she doesn’t go to jail for klife, like she thought she would be, and Andrew Winchester’s father LOVED his son. All of these subtle changes wiped out the decent male characters, because I kid you not Andrew WInchester’s mom was evil and the one that groomed him into the monster he became.

Anyways, what are your thoughts? I really enjoyed the movie, I know I went hard there towards the end but I did enjoy it. What did you like or not like about the movie?
