The Twist And Turns of The Wife Upstairs

Good evening fellow readers, I apologize that it’s been two weeks but I rather not fill these pages with a bunch of fluff and dry useless words. I’ve been dabbling in making videos and learning about lighting what with the softbox I got earlier this year, so it was a nice reprieve BUT I wanted to return here and talk about a book I just read, The Wife Upstairs, let’s brew about it!

So, Freida McFadden is no stranger to this blog, I’ve read all of her Housemaid series, The Housemaid, The Housemaid’s Secret, and The Housemaid Is Watching. All of which are great stories and the girl reading the audio has the perfect accent for Millie, if you need something to listen to or read start there, you’ll fucking love it.

BUT this book, The Wife Upstairs, had me, I thought I had it figured out, but I think Freida fooled me three times. It’s about a character named Sylvia, who’s and on the edge of being evicted when she picks up a caretaking job to care for an elderly mother of a famous and eccentric writer. Coming off the wings of a break up Sylvia has no prospects and the pay is too good. Low and behold the famous writer, Adam Barnett, isn’t needing a caretaker for his mother but his wife. Adam Barnett’s wife Victoria, had fallen down their spiraling staircase cause severe damage to her brain and her body.

While Victoria, may appear like a living vegetable unable to speak most of the time and if she does it’s one word. Victoria, a once vivacious doctor now, sits listlessly in her wheelchair unable to say her own name. Unlike, everyone in the house Sylvia treats Victoria with respect and care that she deserves, and slowly with as much strength as she can muster she hints to Sylvia that Adam Burnett is NOT what he seems, a devoted husband, but rather a monster laced with smiles and decorum.

The book is hauntingly realistic, and frighteningly scary, as Sylvia susses out the truth behind the sad crippled woman who shrinks away whenever her husband draws near. But seriously if you haven’t read any of Freida McFadden books, you need to. If you have, which one’s your favorite? I just seen one called The Witch, I believe that will be my next McFadden Read.

Time To Make A Big Splash, At Seaworld In Orlando!

Good evening readers, we are starting off the month of June with a bang! Last weekend I had hinted at an adventure last weekend, and this time it was outside the house, the backyard even, which was a nice change of pace. Although physically, my body was hurting but the ticket to go was expiring this weekend, so it was either give it up or push against the pain. So, Seaworld I went, let’s brew about it!

Now, the comparison between Busch Gardens Tampa versus Seaworld Orlando, feels rather unfair, but hands down Seaworld is WAY better. The connivence of Busch Gardens is undeniable, however, Seaworld is not only larger but the attention to detail made you feel transported into another world. Not so much beach themed, but European in ways with the thatched buildings, wild gardens and quaint secret places. Of course there were aquatic nuances, take Journey To Atlantis, their gift shop, had a semi circle alcove with aquariums along the walls, ceilings, and even the floor! It was a nice respite from the heat.

The rides were exhilarating my favorite is the Journey To Atlantis and the Manta. My adrenaline junkie heart was having a blast, but there are smaller rides if that is something more your style. The animal meet and greet areas where phenomenal and up close! There was also, an option to feed them as well, whether sharks, seals, etc. There were a ton of sit down and eat places, and I love that there were water stations everywhere especially, since it was very hot and sunny, weather stated cloudy, but what can you do.

Honestly, it was a wonderful experience to be in another world for a day. The only complaint was that it was super packed, but it is the July Fourth weekend so it is to be expected. If you haven’t been, definitely make a trip up there. But if have you been to Seaworld in Orlando, what’s your favorite ride? Is there an attraction that you feel you MUST see when you go?
