Pumpkin Arch, The Garden’s About To Get BIGGER

Good afternoon readers! We are about to wrap up June and next weekend is going to be an adventure!! But I’m wrapping up June with expanding the garden in the backyard. I have small plot for fruit and vegetables and a couple of pots, ho-hum, right? BORING!!! I have my heart set on a gothic-romantic-whimsy garden,, let’s brew about it!

I’ve talked about a teepee trellis and a pumpkin arch earlier this month. I intend to both, currently I have 3 green beans growing, I need 5 more to grow so I can set up the teepee trellis. So, for now, that’s on a pause, but I bought the arched trellis from Walmart. Initially, I was going to hand make the trellis with reinforced wire and iron posts, but after doing the numbers, the cost was too great and I still needed to get dirt and a garden bed liner. The Walmart trellis costed less than 200 hundred dollars, which had I done the original plan it’d be upwards of 500, So win-win. But not only was the price speaking to me, building it wasn’t difficult either.

I still need to get the garden bed liner so I can shape the space around it and of course add some flourishes, like a solar lantern for the center, weave some solar lights on the sides. I’m also, planning to place a patio set for 2 underneath the arch. I would love to sit underneath the arch and enjoy writing, sketching, eating a light lunch or just simply to sit peacefully with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the tranquility. These big ideas means more money than the number I said above, but it’s my dream garden. I already have the seeds I want to plant, but I can’t wait to bring to life the picture I have in my head AND share it with you.

What do you think? Am I going overboard with my ideas? Should I just place a fountain at the end and leave the space open? Or should I build this tiny escape from the busy world around me ? Let me know what you think. I’ve also, provided the link to the arbor trellis as well.

Remember Your Joy

Good morning, beautiful readers, I hope everyone is having a great start to your day. I’m enjoying the fruits of my labor in back patio. The garden has truly awakened the wisteria has swung back hard from the aftermath of the wild “cold” weather here in Florida. I was really worried how they drooped and the leaves fell off, but now every day new leaves unfurl and limbs are beginning to split from the main shoot. Anyways, today, is all about rekindling one’s own energy, let’s brew about it!

So, what do I mean about rekindling energy? I’m talking about that core of your person that makes you want to wake up every day. That surge of desire to take the day by the horns because you got something in mind to accomplish. I don’t know about you but mine had kind of plummeted for quite some time. I ‘d have pockets of inspiration and excitement but its been a bit of a drag lately.

That’s why in this post, I wanted to talk about NOT forgetting that part of yourself, which as you can tell I kind of had. I love to write and other art related things, not that I’m not writing here, but I love to create stories. I enjoy adventure, horror and comedy and building worlds and I just haven’t really in years it seems. But this weekend I felt the urge calling to me every softly, as cheesy as the fuck that sounds.

But yes, your girl sat down for an hour and let the fingertips fly across the keyboard sitting out in my favorite sanctuary aka where the garden grows. I imagined a world that I wanted to revisit, a place I thought about even though I have many. It started from a clip I seen of Jordan Peele, saying simply write for yourself, write for the movie that you want to see that hasn[t been made, yet and worry about selling it later. I think this is loosely a quote as I cant find that clip anymore. But in essence I wanted to envision a story I haven’t read, yet. I’m not belittling the books I’ve read but I felt there was something missing, a story, I want to see or write.

And so, dear readers, I feel that that writing part of me is ready to come out and tackle it again, I’m not going to put the chains of “you have to write X amount of pages a day” on myself. If I write a paragraph today then great, if I write five pages over the weekend that’s great too. So, with that being said, if there is something that you used to enjoy doing, don’t let it be snuffed out by the day to day or the stress of a crisis that piles on your plate like a holiday dinner. GO BE YOU, and you may be tired and you may feel like you don’t have it in you, but you can DO it. Just the other day, I got off of work and I didn’t want to do a review video on Facebook, but in reality I really did deep down. So, I put on the big girl pants and got to work, and I’m glad I did.

So, I’m leaving you with this my friends, you can go one more mile even when you think you can’t. It’s in there, just one foot in front of the other, one breath after the other and you will be glad of it, that I believe one hundred percent. Go, get out there and get after it my spooky friends.

Obsession, Wishes Do Come True

Good evening readers, I hope everyone is enjoying June so far. I know I’ve been covering a lot of movies lately and it’s due to my physical health, my shoulder and neck have gotten me down from doing more active projects. But I’m on the mend, and yes I have an appointment set. Luckily, for you and me I am still able to explore virtually via movies and this time its Obsession, let’s brew about it!

Obsession has been taking the theaters by storm, in fact it’s so far beat any movies this year so far. What’s Obsession about? Well, if you’ve been living under a rock this year it’s about a guy that likes a girl. Okay, it sounds basic, but bear would drop anything if Nikki said to come hang out; and at the same time can’t seem to find the words to tell her he likes her, or according to him,”love” her. Well, before he went to hang out with her and some friends, he went to a metaphysical store. Originally, he had intended to get her a necklace but ended up getting a one wish willow stick. Keep up with me here, sounds lame, but the store cleric warned him he can’t get his money back if something weird happens.

Bear rolls with it and tosses it in the back of his car to hang out with Nikki and their two other friends. FINALLY, Bear gets the chance to take Nikki home, ALONE, but chokes, he can’t tell her he actually really likes her-likes her. So, he makes his wish that Nikki would love him more than ANYTHING in the world. I almost couldn’t believe it that after he broke the stick Nikki, didn’t want to leave his side.

NOW, here is where it gets weird, the first night, she tosses between anger, obsession and crying fits, Bear of course is alarmed. But Nikki explains it away that she was on drugs that night. But it becomes clear that she WANTS him and doesn’t want to be away from him at all. AND BEAR let’s it HAPPEN, this “relationship” barrels down a scary rickety road, where Nikki behavior swings from stage 3 stalker love to hate, almost as if the real Nikki is fighting this “love.”

How does bear break the spell he has placed, it takes him forever to call the number on the back of the box, and the answer is simple, in order for the spell to break he has to die dissipating the spell’s attachment. I felt for Bear at first but his own selfishness damns everyone around him until it is much too late to fix Nikki and their other friends.

Obsession is a rapid fire and dark movie, that really makes you think back to EVER making a wish ever again, especially when it comes to wishing it on others. But have you seen Obsession? What do you think of the movie? If you haven’t, don’t eat popcorn, IT WILL FLY from your lap.

Hokum: Dark Tales From Ireland

Good evening readers, I hope you got your lickies and chewies because tonight is another night in for me. I’ve been in a lot of pain lately and haven’t been able to get out and about as I’d like to. So, I’ve been catching up on movies, and Hokum, brought the terrors, let’s brew about it!

Now, much can’t be figured out in the trailers for this movie when I first seen them. Usually, you get an idea of what is going on but I wasn’t so sure, but it turned out to be a really jumpy ride of a movie. So, it’s about a famous writer played by Adam Scott, his character Ohm, is due to finish his third installment to his book series, but writer’s block is taking it’s toll on him. Feeling, the walls closing in Ohm, decides to take a trip to Ireland where his parents honeymooned to lay their ashes to rest and hopefully finish writing his book.

Now, the character Ohm, I had trouble with because, well, he’s a dick to just about everyone. I sensed there was some serious character growth needing to happen, upon arriving Ohm overhears a tale about a witch that tricks passerby’s chaining them to her and taking them to a dark and ominous abyss filled with terror and pain. Again, a witch is mentioned when Ohm, visits the bar, learning that the honeymoon suite is locked to all due to the owner trapping her there.

There’s so many easter eggs in this movie that I’d be here for a long time and eventually write the movie, so let’s full speed this, Ohm, tries to commit suicide, his character is filled with hate anger, and loathing of the human kind. Ohm, tries to come back to the hotel to thank and apologize the bartender, Fiona, played by Florence Ordesh, however, Fiona has been missing the night he tried to kill himself. Ohm, unsure how to help find Fiona stumbles upon a local homeless man, Jerry, whom, is a friend of Fiona’s, who has a plan to break in because he’s seen Fiona’s ghost and believes she’s in the honeymoon suite.

Ohm, reluctantly follows Jerry and ends up locked in the honeymoon suite by the owner’s son in-law. Fiona is ACTUALLY in the room and there is indeed a witch! As Ohm, tries to find a way out his own demons he’s locked up are unraveling and as the witch draws closer, hotel is in danger of burning Ohm alive.

This movie, has the old world charm of a dark fairy tale, a character lost in his own pain of the past and a reluctant road of redemption. I really enjoyed Hokum, it’s a shame it didn’t get a lot of hype. But have you seen Hokum? If you haven’t make sure you watch it in the dark, it’ll have you seeing things lurking in the dark.
