Obsession, Wishes Do Come True

Good evening readers, I hope everyone is enjoying June so far. I know I’ve been covering a lot of movies lately and it’s due to my physical health, my shoulder and neck have gotten me down from doing more active projects. But I’m on the mend, and yes I have an appointment set. Luckily, for you and me I am still able to explore virtually via movies and this time its Obsession, let’s brew about it!

Obsession has been taking the theaters by storm, in fact it’s so far beat any movies this year so far. What’s Obsession about? Well, if you’ve been living under a rock this year it’s about a guy that likes a girl. Okay, it sounds basic, but bear would drop anything if Nikki said to come hang out; and at the same time can’t seem to find the words to tell her he likes her, or according to him,”love” her. Well, before he went to hang out with her and some friends, he went to a metaphysical store. Originally, he had intended to get her a necklace but ended up getting a one wish willow stick. Keep up with me here, sounds lame, but the store cleric warned him he can’t get his money back if something weird happens.

Bear rolls with it and tosses it in the back of his car to hang out with Nikki and their two other friends. FINALLY, Bear gets the chance to take Nikki home, ALONE, but chokes, he can’t tell her he actually really likes her-likes her. So, he makes his wish that Nikki would love him more than ANYTHING in the world. I almost couldn’t believe it that after he broke the stick Nikki, didn’t want to leave his side.

NOW, here is where it gets weird, the first night, she tosses between anger, obsession and crying fits, Bear of course is alarmed. But Nikki explains it away that she was on drugs that night. But it becomes clear that she WANTS him and doesn’t want to be away from him at all. AND BEAR let’s it HAPPEN, this “relationship” barrels down a scary rickety road, where Nikki behavior swings from stage 3 stalker love to hate, almost as if the real Nikki is fighting this “love.”

How does bear break the spell he has placed, it takes him forever to call the number on the back of the box, and the answer is simple, in order for the spell to break he has to die dissipating the spell’s attachment. I felt for Bear at first but his own selfishness damns everyone around him until it is much too late to fix Nikki and their other friends.

Obsession is a rapid fire and dark movie, that really makes you think back to EVER making a wish ever again, especially when it comes to wishing it on others. But have you seen Obsession? What do you think of the movie? If you haven’t, don’t eat popcorn, IT WILL FLY from your lap.

As Always Keep On Brewin!
