Black Phone 2, Will It Live Up To The OG?

Good evening readers! I hope everyone is staying warm, here in Florida it doesn’t really get cold but, I know everywhere else it’s already started or it’s making its way over. Tonight is a movie night post and I’m freaking excited, I really enjoyed the movie Black Phone so, popcorn has been popped, let’s brew about it!

Black Phone 2 picks up after a few yearswhere the first one ended following Finn and Gwen dealing with the aftermath of the Grabber. Gwen is still getting visions via dreams and Finn keeps getting phone calls (not answering I might add). Gwen’s dreams are pointing towards a camp called, Alpine Lake where their mother was once a counselor. The setting is up where its cold and snowing aka why I asked I hope you guys are warm, the movie has me putting a blanket on my feet.

Finn, Gwen, and their friend Ernesto go out to Alpine Lake to find out why Gwen’s dreams are pointing towards Alpine Lake. Finn wants to keep their mission quiet but with Gwen’s dreams becoming more erratic they enlist the help of Mando and Mustang. It all circles back to the Grabber, whom actually worked as the maintenance man, and the camp being his original stoping grounds.

Uncovering truths long dead buried deep about the missing boys and the curious death of their mother, our heroes triumph over evil with twists, turns and a little help from other side. I feel like this is a great sequel and it kept to the rhythm and tone of the first movie while creating surprises that aren’t the same dog and pony show of the first. Have you seen the movie, if so what do you think? Did Black Phone 2 match up to the second or do you feel like it flopped? Are there any movies you’d like to see that are coming soon?

Welcome To Derry and Some BBQ On The Side

Good evening readers! Spooky month is wrapping up but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t resonate in our black hearts. There might be some horror movies coming our way before the end of the year, I will have to do some research but I wanted to talk about the prequel to It, Welcome To Derry and some good ol’ fashion bbq, let’s brew about it!

So, first stop, Welcome To Derry, I’ve been excited about this since I first heard the news. I really enjoyed the It franchise, I love how it revived Steven King’s work, and the movies can severely make me jump out of my seat. The first episode, starts off with a bang, and yes some spoiler alerts here, it graphic quick with the mother giving birth in the car while the rest of the family chants. It fits with how creepy and dark It is, but I feel like they might have gone over board with this cherry bomb.

However, the story telling and the era intrigues me, I love the retro feel and how the “new” but old gang comes together. The first episode does end on a cliffhanger in which it looks like 80% of the group is merc’ed in a movie theater. I’m curious how the story will take this twist, was this a vision or a nightmare? How will this all tie together?

Why is there bbq in the title? Because I just went to our local bbq place, known as the BEST bbq place in Plant City, started by Elton Johnson back in 1954. The place was not only packed with people but mouthwatering aromas. Saturday’s are the days they sell their ribeyes, and I’m sorry YES it’s a bbq place but I can’t pass up a good ribeye. Everything melted in my mouth from the steak (that didn’t even need A1, I know sacrilege) baked potato right down to the house salad and sweet roll. So so much food, but I have enough for lunch tomorrow. I’m excited to relive the experience or maybe in the evening while watching the second episode of Welcome To Derry, sky’s the limit tomorrow. Also, made a note Johnson’s has a Thanksgiving feast, I may know what I’m dong for the upcoming holiday.

BUT have you watched the new episode of Welcome To Derry? What do you think so far? Which is your favorite character/ scene so far? I really love that it’s basing it around the movie theater in Derry and the lighthouse. Also, when you get bbq what do you like to order?

Fox Squirrel Corn Maze

Good morning readers! I hope everyone had a great weekend and a giid kickstart to their week. I think I can finally say I’m on the mend, I hope. It feels like when I feel like myself again, a wave of the gross comes back, but I’m in my writing spot before I have to get on with the grind and the air is crisp. Well, as crisp as Florida gets before we are blasted by the humidity and heat from all of our sins and transgressions. But on Sunday I visited that farmer’s market I briefly mentioned on my last post, I figured some sunshine would help and a change of scenery, so let’s brew about it!

Fox Squirrel Corn Maze is not even twenty minutes away from me, just in a more rural part of Plant City( obviously). It was a gorgeous secluded spot way off from the main road under a canopy of large chunky trees. It was like a Renaissance fair, just without the knights, elves and fire breathers. They had a few structures that were built for year round use including the main one being a barn. The barn itself housed trinkets to buy, a shop of fresh cut flowers and 2 spots to get frozen and ice drinks as well as sweets.

Although feeling weak it was nice to be walking under large trees and to go on my very first tractor ride, yes I know, I never been on one but it was nice to cruise around the “country side,” side of my town and the corn maze was another first as well. The corn stalks were tall and filled with people with the children darting in and out of the paths. A very relaxing and non horror based day. (Not that I’m complaining or lamenting).

My wallet didn’t make it out of there alive, I ended buying spicy pickles from The Pickle Patch, Maple Bacon jelly from Fox Squirrel Corn Maze itself, and a top from Sweet Roots Apparel. I’m super excited with all my goodies and finished the day with a frozen apple cider bedecked with a apple cider donut. Although feeling out of sorts I’m glad I went and I’m keen to find more hidden gems around me. Have you gone through a corn maze, if so did you in the dark? Have you ever been to a farmers market and gone on a tractor pulled hayride?

When One Door Closes…

Good morning readers! I know it’s been over two weeks but regretably I’ve been sick and family has been in out of the house visiting like revolving doors. NOT that I’m complaining, but it feels like October has slipped through the fingers like water. On top of that, sadly, I didn’t make the cut during the quarter finalists round of Face Of Halloween competition, but what does that mean next for Brewfeeds? Let’s brew about it!!!

Like I was saying, I didn’t make the cut to the Face Of Halloween, it’s disappointing but a learning experience. I hope whoever wins enjoys the time they get to spend with Kane Hodder, Matthew Lillard, and Jamie Lee Curtis, the photo shoot, the ghost investigation with Mr. Hodder and the 13 grand! BUT what I’ve learned from all of this is that social media and exposure is a MUST for this competition. Having more followers, helps that vote count. The good that comes from the experience is that I’ve gained followers on Facebook, which is wonderful to see. Here’s my plan for next year, gain more exposure and hopefully when the competition arrives in 2026 I’ll be going in guns blazing.

So, what does that mean for BrewFeeds NOW? There’s a haunted B and B not too far from where I live. Welcome To Derry, starts today, and I can’t wait to watch it! I love Steven King so I’m excited to see what they do with the prequel of It. I’m almost done with the tombstone I’ve been working on, so more photos to follow. There is a farmer’s market nearby that could be interesting to get into today. What have you been up to this weekend? Are you excited for Halloween? I definitely am, and YES the neighbors have finally put up their Halloween decorations.

Quarter Finalist Voting Is On!

Good morning readers! It has been a long ride on this competition journey, like I said previously I never been in a competition that goes on this long nor made it this far. However, it is looking bleak, let’s brew about it!

So, for starters, I made it to the Quarter Finals! Such a big step, each time the cut has happened I’m anxious and excited. But this go around, I’m more nervous than excited, the competition is getting harder, which is to be expected. I’m with 13 NEW people I haven’t seen, so the group I was in has been eliminated.

Duh right? But there’s a catch, from each group that made it to 2nd place got to have a lightening round. So, when the voting cut last Thursday, October 2, they were given a 2nd chance by being placed in groups to battle it out to be number 1 through the weekend.

The next cut isn’t until Thursday the 16th, 7pm PDT. Which gives a LOT of time for things to change, but what can be done to ramp up the votes? Social media, videos on Youtube? I know the competition to some headline via radio state or news station and provided templates. But I think the bigger the following you have the more exposure and votes you will get from all of the posting, reels, videos etc that you put the word out. I may try our local news station here in Tampa. I feel like I’m grasping straws.

BUT! I’m not giving up, going to give this competition all I’ve got. The link to vote for me is at the bottom, please help me get to the next quarter, I’d love to be able to meet Mattew Lillard, Kane Hodder, and Jamie Lee Curtis, to bring exclusive material for you guys! How cool would that be?

The Cut Before The Quarter

Good evening readers! Today just FLEW by I don’t know about you. It’s been a while ride in this competition and I hope you guys aren’t tired of me talking about it. But I’m excited, I never been a part of something so big, but tonight is the cut before the quarterly, let’s brew about it!

As the minutes wound down, I was neck and neck with a fellow contestant and as the seconds ticked away a thought crossed my mind, what if someone sends a vote to her before the last second and I’m one or more less?! It’s been very anxious lately about it. To me if I didn’t talk about it so much or wasn’t thinking about it so much and doing whatever I can to keep the publics eye on me then it wouldn’t mean anything to me. In the end end though as the seconds evaporated I was met with the results not there and that I had to wait as they counted the votes!!!

I about melted into nothing, when I seen “Results Pending,” how long will it BE pending is it an hour? Two hours or next morning?! I’m not sure if I will be able to sleep. However on the page of ” Results Pending,” there is a video of all three celebrities, Kane Hodder, Matthew Lillard and of course Jamie Lee Curtis thanking the contestants for supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation, telling us they’re counting the votes and they will be right back!

I’m practically toe tapping, I want to know now, which is very Veruca Salt of me, but man am I curious if I made it and if I did what will the next group look like? This competition has been going on for over a month and I have never been in anything this competitive, ever. So although it’s long I’m constantly thinking of what I can do in between the cuts to keep myself in the public eye. What are your thoughts? What would you do? What do you think will happen next to raise the bar?

While I debate all of the possibilities of what could and what will be, I’ll be working on the tombstone over the weekend. Additionally, I’ll be listening to The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, there’s a movie about the first book coming out this year and it looks, thrilling. I’ve read the first book, it had me on edge and guessing, currently listening to the second book, definite a must read or listen.

The Count Down Is Here

Good evening readers, I hope you had a great week! It’s been a long and crazy ride during this competition and the next cut is vicious, let’s brew about it!

SO, the next cut is this Thursday October 2 and although there’s 5 of us only one of us can make it in our group and NUMBER ONE at that. It is the quarterly though so that means there’s 4 more rounds to duke it out with other contestants. Getting ever nervous and curious I took to Youtube to see if or what other contestants are saying.

Low and behold I found a previous contestant from 2024 with the channel called Horror Realm whom stated that there was 2 thousand plus that had enjoined during the competition last year. That’s a lot of people, and he basically broke it down for each round and how much money you’d have to spend in order to keep your head above water. It honestly made me nervous, like do I deserve to be here? Can I even make it to this last round?

The grand prizes are amazing, getting the exposure alone not only for the BrewFeeds channel but for other ideas that have been circling my head would BE THE BEST kickstarter, plus the money would back it. A girl, or ghoul can dream, right? But getting votes are super vital and I’m not sure where I rank once or IF I’m thrown in the mix after this next cut. Seems, like a lot of people, but this girl isn’t going to throw in the towel even though the imposter syndrome is ever mashing it’s jaws at me.

So, here’s hoping I make it to the next round, gotta regroup and definitely put out more reels, Click the link below and help this ghoul make it to the final cut!

The Conjuring: Last Rites (Scary or Not Too Scary)

Good evening readers! I can’t believe October is around the corner, and NO my neighborhood still HASN’t put up decorations. I also, am so excited to still be in the running for the Face Of Halloween competition. So, as time ticks closer to the next cut, I decided the stay in movie for the night is, The Conjuring: Last Rites, let’s brew about it!

I felt the beginning was a very quick back story but I mean short, sweet and to the point, right? The Conjuring: Last Rites starts with a back story of Ed and ( a very pregnant) Lorraine Warren going to a haunted shop only to cause Lorraine to go into labor. Flash forward Ed and Lorraine Warren have been out of the business of fighting against the ungodly forces of evil for years due to Ed’s heart condition.

But something dark and sinister, and very familiar comes back. Not only is this entity terrorizing a family but the Warren’s daughter, Judy, whom is set to get married soon. Thus forcing Ed and Lorraine out of retirement and back into the game (after some convincing from their daughter). I’m not going to spoil the ending but it’s a definite watch.

Now, I enjoy The Conjuring franchise and I’ve seen the timelines that have been built. The Conjuring movies have a set recipe that works and is enjoyable, jump scares and all. I found myself cringing with fear and excitement even though I knew it was coming.

BUT dear readers, the next cut is this Thursday September 26th, help keep me in the fight by voting. All the proceeds go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, help them by voting! After this next cut I feel like it’s going to get dangerous, so keep the holy water at the ready and your weapon of choice sharp! My link to my profile is at the bottom, let’s help Starlight and unmask the murderer!

The Cut Was Made…

Good evening readers, it was a long day at work. I kept glancing at the time, checking my stats. Thankfully busy, as time ticked by, the cut inching its way closer. I hope your work day went by fast as well. But, did I make it, let’s brew about it!!

I made it to the top 10 cut! For those that voted for me I thank you, and for those that haven’t toss your vote into the hat! It’s been an exciting ride and nowhere near finding out WHO is behind the killing in the Face Of Halloween, all I know is the competition is slimming down fast.

What have I been doing to try and keep some skin in the game? I’ve been vigilant in posting on Facebook and Twitter(X). Posting multiple times a day with reels, too. I was in the top 2 in a group of fifteen. Currently, thinking of new video reel ideas from the view numbers I’m seeing. There seems to be a lot of movement in the photos I recently posted from The Stanley hotel and it’s really encouraging.

What are my thoughts about the next cut? Well from the first cut of 70 plus people to 20, I guessed that it would go down to 15 then to 10 and then, down to 5. I’m GUESSING that after the next cut which is September 25th 7pm PDT, I think they are either going to have us either fight for the number one spot in our group OR they’ll take the last 5 of us and mash the other groups together. I’m thinking the latter, but time will tell.

Until, the next cut besides blowing up social media, I’ll be working on the tombstone I shown you guys yesterday. Please help be the last ghoul standing and vote for me. If you haven’t already, follow the Brewfeeds Facebook page, react, comment, share, and give a star! I look forward to see you there!

Final Resting Place, Getting Started

Good evening readers, I can’t believe how fast September is slipping through our fingers! It’s almost time for Halloween, feeling a desire to run through the cornfield? I’ve been meaning to see if there will be any fall festivals or pumpkin patches nearby.. BUT as I have some research to do on that I want to talk about R.I.P’s, let’s brew about it!

So, if you haven’t seen my reel on Tuesday, I had made my way down to Kinkos to get my stencil printed. I had work in a matter of hours but I needed it done so I could use the weekend to detail and paint. BUT I have it in hand and will be cutting it out tomorrow night while I wait for the next cut on the Face Of Halloween competition.

I’m using a mashup of the Wicked Makers, James and Jay and another creator Cheryl Callender, for designs, tools, and materials. I LOVE Hocus Pocus and I couldn’t think of a decent spooky rhyme or design idea other than the shape, so I thought why not a Hocus Pocus themed headstone? There’s a tombstone for Emily Binx, Billy Butcherson, and even the Sanderson sisters, but not one for Thackery Binx, the iconic talking black cat. So, as I did my research, I found Cheryl Callender’s design! I thought I’d have to carve out a cat/ cat head out of the installation board, but thankfully, Cheryl had worked smarter not harder on this part and used a cat mask. The cat mask was hard to find and the shipping was more than the mask itself.

But I’m excited to get down to business ! Also, for those that have voted for me, thank you so much and for those that haven’t there’s still time. Your 1 vote resets after 24 hours, and if you have some coin just know it’s going to a good cause, The Starlight Children’s Foundation.
